urbanleague f Eastern Massachusetts "The Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts Moves torward Stronger, Hopetul and Committed in 2021 and Beyond" The Urban league of Eastern Massachusetts (ULEM) began operating remotely during March of 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the safety of staff, students and the community. We immediately shifted focus to changes that needed to be made to mean- ingfully serve the communities t, projected to suffer the most due to COMD's devastating health and economic impact. We now use our website and a range of social media to share critical infor mation from reputable local and national organizations. Another strategy for communication is our ULEM produced "Leaders over Lunch" webinar series featuring thought leaders who engage in conversations that yield valuable guidance regarding health /wellness issues, available social services, civil rights, and economic support. ULEM's workforce development training programs are currently administered online, allowing for a continuance of 101 years of serving individuals pursuing economic independence through our free job training and supervised career placement. In addition, ULEM'S Domestic and Sexual Violence Project offers deep level professional support to the trauma victims who come to us seeking protection and aid. ULEM collaborates with partner organizations to provide our neighborhoods with needed services and assistance, such as the mobile COVID testing held at our Roxbury location, delivered by the Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center. ULEM's 1619 Project, a coalition of 50 local black and brown organiza- tions, who mobilize 400+ volunteers at election polls to provided voter rights protection at selected Massachusetts polling cities and towns last November. During 2021 the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts continues our mission of Empowering Communities and Changing Lives, with renewed conviction to be the "Economic First Responders" for those we serve.
