Whittier Street Health Center Recognizes National Minority Health Month April is National Minority Health Month (NMHM), a time to raise awareness about health disparities that continue to affect racial and ethnic minority populations and encourage action through health education, early detection, and control of disease complications. The 2021 NMHM theme is #VaccineReady. As recognized by the United States Health and Human Service's ffice of Minority Health (https://minorityhealth. hhs.gov/nmhm/), the COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionally impacted racial and ethnic minority communities and underscores the need for these vulnerable communities to bet vaccinated as more vaccines become available. COVID-19 vaccination is an important tool to help us get back together with our families, communities, schools, and workplaces by preventing the spread of COVID-19, and bringing an end to the pandemic. The Whittier Street Health Center responded quickly and comprehensively to challenges created by the pandemic; we established onsite COVID-19 testing and Contact Tracing in April 2020, and two months later launched our Mobile Testing Van program, which allowed us to provide mobile COVID-19 testing a public housing developments, faith-based institutions, supermarket parking lots, community centers, and locations designated as "hot spots" by the Boston City Health Department. Today, Wittier operates four COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics. WHITTIER STREET HEALTH CENTER Comprehensive. Compassionate. Community. FREDERICA M.
